Americans who were counting on special counsel John Durham to get a conviction against Michael Sussmann, a former lawyer for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, on a felony charge of lying to the FBI, were sorely disappointed last week when a heavily stacked jury found him ‘not guilty.’
He was guilty, of course, because Durham’s prosecutors found smoking-gun evidence: A text message to then-FBI general counsel Jim Baker in which Sussmann said he had something to pass along — the fake ‘Donald Trump-Russian collusion’ lie — and that he was not acting on behalf of any clients.
He was acting on behalf of a client: The Hillary Clinton campaign.
But if this revelation isn’t enough to demonstrate clearly what a filthy, slimy, stinking, incestuous pool of corruption our federal government has become, sit back. There’s more. A lot more.
Earlier this week, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) appeared on Tucker Carlson’s top-rated Fox News program to deliver a bombshell: The attorney’s office Sussmann worked for, Perkins Coie — a Democrat-aligned law firm that served as the go-between for the equally fake “Russia dossier” created by former British spy Christopher Steele — actually has an office inside the FBI. And for the kicker, there’s this: Sussmann was running it until very recently.
Here’s Carlson’s report:
BREAKING: In response to a letter sent by Rep. Matt Gaetz and @Jim_Jordan, Perkins Coie, the legal arm of the DNC and Hillary Clinton, admits they have been operating an FBI workspace in their Washington, D.C. office since 2012. pic.twitter.com/D2k19wQ2n5

“The Democrat Party’s law firm, the law firm that received $42 million from the Democratic Party, has this co-located workspace that they operate in concert with the FBI,” Gaetz told Carlson.
Why in the world would that be the case? Why would Christopher Wray allow this to continue? Then you would also have to ask yourself why in the last 12 months was the person on behalf of Perkins Coie operating that worksite, Michael Sussmann himself?” the Florida Republican continued.
“What reason would there be for that and what leverage would the Perkins law firm have over the FBI given this work they are doing together?” he added.
Nick Arama at Red State opined on the bombshell revelation:
Oh, that isn’t concerning at all. …
Gaetz said he was “making demands” on Christopher Wray, the FBI Director, “immediately” to explain what was going on here, because Gaetz said it was not at all normal. Gaetz said that the Democratic Party, which has employed Perkins Coie for many years, shouldn’t have this special access to the FBI.
It’s not clear what is being referenced here and we’ll have to hear what the FBI and Perkins Coie have to say about this. But if there is such a space, that raises questions given the close relationship of the law firm and the Democratic Party because the FBI is supposed to be maintaining objectivity as one of the chief law enforcement arms in this country. We’ve had a lot of questions about that when it comes to the Russia probe. Is there an explanation here for this space? I’d like to hear it.
So, let’s see if we can recap all of this:
— During the latter stages of Trump’s 2016 campaign, the FBI launched a ‘counterintelligence’ investigation after being told by Hillary Clinton’s lawyer Trump had ‘a secret backchannel communication link’ with a Russian bank, Alfa Bank;
— That was a lie, but Hillary’s lawyer told Baker anyway;
— Sussmann said he wasn’t acting on behalf of any client but he billed the Clinton campaign for his time so he was acting on the campaign’s behalf;
— Sussmann was also running the Democrat-aligned law firm’s office within the FBI itself, in the shadows, because that is how the deep state operates;
— Durham charges Sussmann after catching him in an obvious lie;
— A Democrat-donor jury finds Sussmann ‘not guilty’;
— He skates; Hillary skates; all high-ranking FBI officials involved in this lie skate.
No wonder our founding institutions no longer function as designed.
Americans can expect nothing in terms of fairness and justice from the current system of government. As such, there should be nothing to compel us to pay one iota’s worth of attention to anything those people demand of us.
